Voyageur Bay is located on Rocher-Fendu Lake, a wide expanse of the Ottawa River also referred to by Ontario Hydro and Ontario Power Generation (OPG) as the Cheneaux Forebay or reservoir above the Cheneaux Dam. To maintain the structural integrity of the dam, it must be operated within tightly controlled limits with a minimum of 84.73 meters (above sea level) to a maximum of 86.87 meters. That is a fluctuation of only two meters. OPG retains ownership of one vertical meter above their maximum elevation and provides Voyageur Bay owners with a free waterfront license to use and access the river across OPG property.
The Ottawa River flooded in 2017 and again this year in 2019 with much devastation to waterfront homes and cottages. Our hearts go out to those impacted. However, the Ottawa River did not flood at Voyageur Bay and has never gone above its maximum elevation since the dam was built in 1950.
Simply stated, Voyageur Bay can’t flood and your investment in premium waterfront is “worry-free”.
