18 Acre Beachside Estate Property on Ottawa River’s Voyageur Bay.
Presquile Point is a spectacular 18-acre peninsula jutting into the Ottawa River at Voyageur Bay combining spectacular rock formations with perfect river sand. It is the current home of Whitewater Village, a small, 4-acre fractional ownership community at the very end of the peninsula.
Presquile (French for “almost an island”) came into being in the 1950’s with the construction of the Cheneaux Dam about 10 km downstream. The dam did two things. First, it created Presquile Point by raising the water levels and creating the Peninsula. Secondly, the dam’s operating plan only allows for a very narrow water fluctuation range meaning there is no flooding and no low water.
This part of the Ottawa River is so named because Samuel De Champlain camped on the opposite shore in 1613. If you find yourself falling in love with this area and Presquile Point doesn’t suit, consider a spectacular one-acre waterfront lot just minutes away and lots of information on this website. Seller Joe Kowalski would be pleased to provide you a tour and can be reached on his cell at 613.585.2291.
Presquile Point is located at 503 Rafting Road in the Township of Whitewater Region on the Ottawa River. The closest hamlet is Foresters Falls and an hour’s drive west of Kanata. Its located where the Ottawa River flows into Voyageur Bay on Rocher-Fendu Lake providing the best in both river and lake activities.
WORRY FREE REAL ESTATE
Presquile Point is located on Rocher-Fendu Lake or as Ottawa Power Generation calls it, the Cheneaux Forebay. That is extremely significant because it means that Presquile Point is on the only body of water from Mattawa to Montreal that CAN’T, WON’T flood. Not only is there no flooding, there is no low water and the water is controlled within a very small elevation range.
Although it’s called a lake, it’s actually a river with an imperceptible current which means ALMOST NO BUGS except for a very, very brief black fly season in May. The property is primarily sand with perfect drainage and no pools even in the rain for mosquitos to breed.
The geology of Presquile Point is an outcropping of Canadian Shield Granite 50’ high providing spectacular views and the remainder is all natural sand deposited in the last 10,000 years when all of the great lakes except Ontario drained through the Ottawa River.
Presquile Point is just downstream of the National Whitewater Park, home to Canada’s best rafting and kayaking and thousands of acres of trails.
On site is a natural beach for swimming and paddle sports. The forested area has perfect single-track mountain biking trails. The back side of the peninsula offers sheltered water for a dock to accommodate a power boat or small sailboat. PHOTOS – MOUNTAIN BIKE, BEACH, ROPE SWING, WATER SKIING, SAILING
The National Whitewater park is just a 15-minute drive upstream with world class whitewater and spectacular scenery.
PRESQUILE POINT INCLUDES
Besides 18 wonderful acres and a beautiful beach, Presquile Point boast two classic structures:
Originally, the DEMO unit for the nearby Whitewater Village, the Lake House is a beautiful 3-bedroom two storey structure with the best location on the peninsula.
The Lake House was built in 2010 at a cost of $350,000, almost double in today’s dollars.
It still has the “wow” factor and can be a primary residence or second home.

The Beach Shed started as shed storing kayaks and canoes but over time has become a beautiful shoreline building with a large deck, heated interior and men’s and women’s washrooms. The Beach Shed has a myriad of potential uses.
At the end of Presquile Point is a 4-acre Fractional Ownership Development comprising eight 3-bedroom luxury cottages. The development accesses its utilities from via the Peninsula.
The Seller owns the adjoining land will retain beach access
The Lake House would make a fantastic private residence
There is the potential to subdivide the Peninsula into 5 river front lots and 6 back bay lots. A zoning change from Tourist Commercial to Limited Service Residential. One Acre Waterfront Lots in our area generally sell for about $150k. The front lots would command more and the back bay lots would probably command less.
Presqu’ile Point has the potential for to build out Whitewater Village.
